The Ten Cents Kids

When I was about eight years old, my mother would always tell us a story about how she started working when she was only nine. That was around 1910. She had only a third-grade education, but she was the wisest person I have ever known. God blessed her with 104 trips around the sun. Intelligence is not wisdom, you know.

Mother said that to make an honest buck, she would go to Portsmouth and work shucking oysters. She said there were many children—white and Black—shucking oysters. She was paid only five cents a day for her labor. She told us that her little hands would bleed from the task, but she would wash them and keep on shucking all day long. She said that “the ones” who received ten cents a day believed they were just as rich as the people paying them to shuck the oysters. I got it. Some are still missing the point.

Even back in 1910, little children with little education could see the B.S. My mother said that when they got a break from shucking oysters, the children—even back then—occasionally made jokes about the ten-cents kids who did not realize that they too were being used. Mother said the five-cents kids had few other choices.

It has been in our faces all along. I’m talking about illusions of grandeur. Most people embrace them as a fish embraces water. Check out brother Clarence, or even The Donald. Contrary to their wishes, they have provided reasons for people of all colors all over the planet to look in the mirror. Now it is easy to see what is occurring.

Why would a Black man on the Supreme Court vote every time against things that could make life better for other people, middle-class and poor people, regardless of color?

One need not be a rocket scientist to see what’s up. Now even poor and middle-class white people have a an opportunity to see behind the curtain. The Donald just let it all hang out. Sometimes people do not belive that a snake is in the grass even if they hear it rattling. Eyes are opened wide however once one feels the bite.

Sometimes God allows things to occur for reasons oblivious to the untutored eye. Get the right tutoring at: www.U9itus.com

I’m just saying…
